Back in Training | Preparing For Upcoming Matches

The training session at the Red Giants camp continued since Monday after being given a break right after the FA Cup final on August 24.

This month, Selangor FC will face three matches which is the Super League match week ten on September 13th against Kuching City FC (Home), then the adventure in the ACL2 competition starts on September 19th against Muangthong United FC (Away) and is followed by the Super League week eleven against Terengganu FC on September 21st (Away).

Going through the third day of the training session, according to Selangor FC import striker Ronnie Fernandez, he got enough rest with his family and is ready to focus on the team.

“Following the finals, we were given a full week of rest. I suppose everyone had a good time with their families and even themselves. It’s good to have a fresh start.

“Now we have to remain focused on our target. The team is in 2nd place, which means we have to train hard and prepare ourselves to keep the momentum going and eventually add more points in the future. To do that, we must keep our fighting spirit up while improving our performance. On top of that, we also have to focus on the ACL2 where we will face Muangthong FC in Thailand for the first match. This is like a brand new challenge for most of us and it is important to get the first win. I believe that we are able to achieve our highest target; to be at the top of the group table. I hope that we continue to have great support from the fans in this journey of ours from the very start until today.”

Before the end of the interview with the Media team of  Selangor FC, Ronnie said, “I had a late start but it is a lot better now. Thanks to the people around me, the staff and the others who help me to improve my form. Most importantly, I just want to help the team win in any possible way that I can. When I am able to score and we win, it’s the best feeling for me because it is not only a win for us the players, but also for the staff and those who work hard for the team.”

Two national players, Nooa Laine and Harith Haiqal have been called up by Harimau Malaya to face the 43rd edition of Pesta Bola 2024 on September 4th to 8th. The team captain, Safuwan Baharudin, was also called up by Singapore FA for two friendlies. In addition, four Red Giant import players, Noor Al-Rawabdeh, Ali Olwan along with Reziq Banihani represent Jordan (vs. Kuwait and Palestine) and Umarbek Eshmurodov represents Uzbekistan (vs. North Korea and Kyrgyzstan) to face the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

The Red Giants' management is confident that the coaching staff will make the greatest use of their time during the FIFA break given the number of players available. We also wish luck to the players who will represent their country in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and as well as the international friendlies. Good luck!
